About

Our STory

The ING Fellowship began as an idea among a group of friends and community members who thought that there were not enough outlets in Inglewood for young people to voice their thoughts, ideas, and concerns about different issues affecting the Inglewood community.

As the group shared different experiences of growing up in Inglewood, the group realized there were similar views on a need to create a leadership pipeline for young people to develop and become civic engagement leaders in Inglewood. Over the course of a year, the group collectively envisioned and created the ING Fellowship.

The Issue

The ING Fellowship seeks to address the lack of civic engagement in the Inglewood community, especially among young people.

Currently, Inglewood, CA is undergoing a “transformation” through new development projects, such as stadiums and arenas. Consequently, the Inglewood community will be experiencing gentrification.

The Fellowship seeks to empower young people to voice their thoughts, ideas, and concerns to influence local government initiatives and policies in Inglewood, CA.

OUR purpose

The ING Fellowship supports young people who are passionate about social justice to organize, mobilize, and address different issues affecting the Inglewood community.

The ING Fellowship offers a space where young people can take collective action of different social issues that will arise  due to gentrification. We are actively working to create a leadership pipeline by helping young people develop into effective leaders in Inglewood, CA.

Moreover, the Fellowship aims to create institutional change by forming relationships and connections with organizations and agencies throughout Inglewood and the greater Los Angeles community.
